Crișana

Crișana is the wine country of the Arad highlands — Miniș, Măderat, the slopes above the Mureș. The region's signature grape is Cadarcă, the old Pannonian red that fell almost out of cultivation and is now being replanted by a handful of houses.

The wines are deep, spicy, and increasingly precise. The landscape — vineyards rising into oak forest — is some of the most underrated in the country.
